Though the cherry trees don't blossom and the strawberries don't ripen, Though the apples are worm-eaten and the wheat fields stunted, Though the sheep pens are sheepless and the cattle barns empty, I'm singing joyful praise to God. I'm turning cartwheels of joy to my Savior God. Counting on God's Rule to prevail, I take heart and gain strength. I run like a deer. I feel like I'm king of the mountain!  Habakkuk 3:17-20 MSG

this morning, over eggs and coffee, after we'd risen early and worked our bodies, we strengthened our souls.  one of our chief joys is our daily devotional time together. a quick read from jesus calling (so so highly recommended) and a moment to dwell in the scriptures.

i feel that this is what god is teaching me this season, joyfulness despite uncertainty. and why are we to have a response of joyfulness, even when things are not going as planned? when the cherry trees of our lives aren't blossoming, and when the wheat isn't available for harvest and we have been emptied? we are to rejoice because we have been given the ultimate hope.

we do not live for this world, for the blossoms or the salaries, for the illusion of perfection. we live for jesus. we live to bring god glory. we live for the hope of the life that is to come. and living in this hope, produces fruit in his time.

  4. Hello! I found your blog when I was linking to Ann's Wednesday post for the first time today :) (I'm a devoted reader, and new to the blog world). I just got married myself this past April (congrats to you!!!) and considered using that as my topic of my 31 days posts, but I settled on 31 days of active waiting...stop by and take a read if you have time or occasion. :) Thanks for your beautiful words - I look forward to reading the rest of your posts! Blessings and Joy to you1
